2. Installing the software

Install USB Sharing Application:

 

l     We highly recommended that reboot your PC after the installation.

l     Mac OS must been selected OS 9 or OS X first then running installation

 

 

3. Status Indication on Taskbar:

Red: Another computer is in use of device; not allowed to switch between PCs at this moment. (Busy status)

Green: Device connect now.

Yellow: Device connect another computer, press Ctrl + F11 to switch. (For MacOS, it is Alt-F11)

 

Noticed that status indication on Taskbar will be green light for ALL computers when improperly installed or connected USB Auto Sharing Switch.)

 

It is important for end users to realize that storage devices such as, external hard drives, and printers, will continue to send signals back and forth to your computer when ever they are connected. While this is happening, USB auto sharing will be confused by this signal and an indication icon will appear red and blinking. If you would like to have the controlling power of USB auto sharing without device busy considerations, simply press ¡§Ctrl¡¨ + ¡§F11¡¨ (For MacOS, it is Alt-F11). The confirmation message will then pop up. Simply click ¡§Yes¡¨ to confirm the switch.(For Windows OS and MacOS X)

NOTICE:

1. USB Sharing Switch is designed for multiple computers to share one USB device, such as USB-Printer, USB-Scanner, USB-HDD, etc). However, it does not apply to the Mouse and Keyboard because neither one can operate the switch once shared by multiple computers. If it is necessary to access multiple computers by one set of mouse, keyboard, or monitor, you should use KVM switch.

2. No matter how when you connect USB-Sharing to USB Storage-Devices, before switch you must doing safety remove process first, then switch to another location.

 

3. When you use MAC-OS, please use ALT-F11 to switch the device.

 

4. We strongly recommend you to turn off the suspend (sleep) function from the OS while using our device.

Trouble Shooting:

1.      Problem happened in Windows Suspend Mode and Mac Sleep Mode.

The signal on Taskbar will turn to green light on both PCs when users try to use USB-Sharing Under Windows Suspend Mode or Mac Sleep Mode. Please re-plug the USB-Sharing to make it work again if you have this kind of problem.

To prevent this problem, we strongly recommend that checking

Your setting in the suspend/sleep mode in your windows/MAC OS

first, then follow the way below to correct your default. 

1.Selects the Control panel

 

2.        Selects the Power Options.

3. Changes System standby status to be¡¨ Never.¡¨

 

MAC OS

1. Selects System Preferences>Screen Save

 

3.        Selects ¡§Open Energy Save¡¨ then changes system sleep mode to be ¡§ Never.¡¨

 

2.        Hotkey control problem in Mac OS

When you use the hot-key (ALT-F11) to control USB-Sharing under MAC OS

Please turn on the function-key in the Keyboard item and turn off the sticky keys

in the Universal Access item. (In the System Preferences both)
